Looking at what was presented last September during the European fashion weeks, we have decided to make an easy reference list of the top ten trendiest colors for 2009, so you can refresh your mind and plan your wardrobe according to this years coolest colors.

We have put together the list below after having carefully analyzed the collections and shop windows of some of the top Italian fashion companies taking part in Milan fashion week, which, in our opinion, have had a fundamental influence on the evolution of designs and shades for 2009.

So let’s start with our catalogue: which are the ten trendiest colors of 2009?

PURPLE: already considered the most fashionable color of 2008, purple will be very popular this year too, chosen by many people, who are looking for elegance with a difference. Purple is in fact an unusual shade, strong, vivid and very original, in its many different shades, but, at the same time, it retains a really elegant and sensual air, which undoubtedly captures everybody’s attention and interest . Purple is the perfect color to wear if you want to look seductive but mysterious and original.
WHITE: always considered the color of purity and harmony, this color is winning over a major part of the world’s population because it goes perfectly with every other shade and, above all, white is restrained and classic and for this reason is loved and worn by people of all ages: from older women to teenage girls and boys. White is perfect both in winter and in summer, the ideal color for each season!

BLACK: like white, black is also the authentic symbol of classic elegance, going with any other color and perfect for any occasion, both when you go to work and you need to wear something restrained and elegant and for a special occasion or big event when a black dress made of silk or lace, always gets noticed, making you look extremely sensual and gorgeous. Black is totally trendy for accessories too, such as shoes, purses or jewels, perhaps enriched with some precious stones or made of shiny black pearls.

GRAY: we have put this color at number four of our list but, believe us, gray is growing in popularity and style every day. If you are planning to visit Rome or Milan in this period, take a walk along the most famous shopping streets and you will certainly see grey clothes and accessories (handbags, wallets and belts) everywhere. Gray is very fashionable both in its dark version (above all if you are looking for gray accessories) or as a light gray shade. Everybody has at least two or three gray pullovers or shirts in their wardrobe.

GOLD: If you love shining like a fashion star and standing out from the crowd, gold is the best solution for you. Very dynamic and brilliant, Gold is especially appropriate for special evenings or important parties where you need to wear something extremely elegant but also gorgeous and seductive which will get you noticed. Combined with gold accessories and plenty of charm and sensuality, this color will make you glow, enhancing your refined style and your form.

BEIGE: just like black, white and grey, this color too is a restrained classic that is appreciated and worn by people of all ages. Refined and suitable for any occasion, Beige gives you a sense or warmth on a cold winter afternoon and it is harmonious in spring and summer, bringing to mind the color of sun-drenched summer landscapes. A perennial shade which is also incredibly fashionable! Great news for us all!!!!

RED: the ultimate symbol of love and passion has to be included in the top ten of 2009! Gorgeous and striking, red is very fashionable this year. Strong and decided, this color will give you a new dimension, making you appear dynamic, original and above all determined, ready to carve your own place in society. Wearing red, your personality will emerge strongly and you will finally achieve your goals.

EMERALD: is the new-comer of 2009, especially for the spring-summer season of 2009 because it is fresh and very vivid. Its shade makes us think of the crystalline Italian sea, contrasting with the white-grey of the rocks, or of the fresh grass in public gardens, covered with flowers in spring. However, although this color is seen more as a summer shade than a winter tone, many people are already wearing emerald pullovers and accessories and in some shop windows this color is present.

FUCHSIA: this color too, like Emerald, has been proposed at Milan Fashion week as the new entry of 2009 and despite its brightness and its “summer” feel, fuchsia, in all its darker and lighter shades, is already gaining popularity and success. Very young, original, innovative and fresh, this color suits women of all ages excellently because it goes easily with any look, transforming a simple t-shirt into a very trendy garment and an anonymous item of clothing into a very luxury and gorgeous one.

BROWN: Brown, like beige, is the perfect color to wear whatever the season. It is the classic winter color, giving us warmth and harmony but it can easily be worn in summer too, above all during your summer evenings because it is very elegant but restrained and classic. Many fashionable coats this year are made in brown, and some of them are displayed in shop window contrasting with gold shirts and metallic tights in order to create a more contrasting gorgeous effect and further enhance your form and your legs.
