The countdown has started to the beginning of the 78th edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, which opens its doors to the Spring/Summer 2011 menswear fashion collections on June the 15th, offering four days of important and interesting events, exhibitions and…lots of fashion shows, of course!

Pitti Immagine Uomo 78

So from this week, Florence will become the first stage this year to present the mundane and fashion awakening, turning itself into a unique and incomparable setting in which to launch new brands, trends and style rituals.

Among the big names that always give life to this event, this year there will also be Jil Sander with Raf Simons as creative director who will present their Menswear Collection for Spring-Summer 2011, especially for the 78th edition of Pitti Uomo,  with a brand new fashion show formula, immersed in the romantic atmosphere of the Villa Gamberaia gardens.

While for Jil Sander, the internationally renowned designer label, this show at Pitti Uomo will be their debut in Florence, for Raf Simons it is an important return, after the fashion project dedicated to the first 10 years of his brand.

With Jil Sander showing in Florence as a special guest, Pitti is confirming its intention of organizing editions around the big brands – landmarks for contemporary fashion and elegance – presenting an occasion to celebrate those fashion houses and companies that have been representing quality, excellence and innovation for a very long time and still choose Florence to introduce themselves to the top buyers and press from all over the world.

Just as at the last edition, this year too at Pitti “Who is on Next?” will take place, an important and much acclaimed competition aiming to discover new talents in the men’s fashion world.

Even an appetizer of women’s fashion news awaits you, with “Pitti W” organized in the Dogana, and the pre-collection offered by Haider Ackermann and supported by the Pitti Discovery Foundation: the designer has chosen Palazzo Corsini as the location for his catwalks and the baroque atmosphere will welcome the proposals both for him and her.

Extremely impressive and highly valuable too, is the event organized by Fred Perry in collaboration with Magnum, showing Paolo Pellegrin’s pictures for “Storm”, which will inspire reflections upon man and nature.

So, a wide variety of events are waiting for you in Florence, to celebrate the sense of style and elegance that has always characterized Pitti Immagine Uomo.
