The latest color trends for 2010

So, what are the main color trends of 2010?  

Which are these “universal” colors? Let’s look at them in more detail.

RED, which represented one of the most fashionable tonalities of summer 2009, will be  present, this year too, in the luxury shop windows of the most famous Italian brands, adopted either as the main color for dresses and accessories or combined with other colors such as yellow or white. Red, the color of passion, the symbol of dynamism and sensuality will take you and your look through  the whole of 2010, enhancing your style and transforming you into a stunning and sexy woman, who is also incredibly elegant.

If you prefer a strong color with a younger feel than classic red, FUCHSIA and PURPLE are the perfect solutions for you. These tonalities are also incredibly fashionable this year especially when used with shiny fabrics such as silk or taffeta which show off the beautiful nuances of color so well. However, even though many Italian and French designers use these two colors both for the summer look and for the winter season, contrasting them with black or brown, we suggest you  choose fuchsia for the summer, while purple or wine red could be adopted for your winter style, to give your look a touch of light and energy but without overdoing it. If you want to use fuchsia in winter too, we suggest you use it in combination with other more neutral colors such as grey or black.

GREEN is also one of the top colors of this year, perfect in all its many shades: acid green (mainly used as a summer color), bottle green or classic mid green, for a sensual look which brings to mind the harmonious colors of Nature and helps us to restore our inner calm.

 

Do you want to make this year vibrant and full of color, no matter whether it’s winter time or summer? Designers propose you should wear metallic GOLD or SILVER both during the day and at night for a shimmering final effect. Do you remember the collection presented by the king of Italian fashion, Mr. Giorgio Armani, completely inspired by the moon and its silver glittering powder? You too can finally enhance your natural beauty and your sensuality with these beautiful luminous colors, which confer an undisputed touch of charm and elegance wherever you are. Ivory is the alternative to metallic gold and silver, especially if you are afraid of looking too flashy but want to avoid looking old fashioned and antiquated. Ivory will give you the refinement of a delicate shade along with the glamour of a fashionable color full of light and nuances.

 

Blue, brown and black are the top colors of this year as far as the evening look is concerned. Many famous designers and fashion houses in fact, adopted these colors for their evening wear collections and gorgeous evening dresses because, as you know, despite the passing of time and changes in fashion trends, classic colors such as dark blue, black or dark brown always remain a sign of undisputed elegance and delicate refinement. However, if you want to be daring and look “unusual” and incredibly stunning at night too, you can wear an elegant long evening dress in a vivid color such as orange, yellow, acid green or violet. You will certainly attract the attention of everybody around you who won’t be able to help noticing your original but also incredibly attractive and fashionable look.

However, colors such as orange and yellow have also been chosen  by designers as trendy shades for daywear, to fill your summer with sunshine and fun, but winter also has a share of their brightness with yellow and orange coats, even better in fake fur as proposed at the latest European fashion weeks.

Classic shades that never go our of style such as white and grey continue their popularity, given that both these colors go well with any other shade and are perfect to wear both in summer (thanks to their freshness) and in winter (they are soft and not in the least unconventional).

What can we say about colors such as light blue, pink, beige or coral red? They are perfect to wear in summer thanks to their vividness and their energy, but, if you are a genuine fashionista, you’ll want to be wearing these  colors in winter too, given that, as we mentioned in the very first lines of this article, 2010 will be characterized by a mix of colors which, despite the changing of seasons, won’t ever be out of style!!!!
